Artist's Statement:
"Growing up on a Midwestern farm is an idyllic setting for childhood. Seasons come and go, not only the seasons of the year, but the ones that lead the farm from life anew to harvest. Perceiving patterns of that life plants memories deep in the heart of any son or daughter of the farm. You could find beauty, sadness, struggle, peace, fear, and bravery that would grip the soul and imagination in old barns and woods that were islands between wide open spaces. The thoughts and emotions that filled life between corn fields and pastures were innumerable and deep like the soil.

When I left home, and as time passed, a lot of those experiences fragmented and changed. Some became brighter, others dulled, some partially forgotten, others fused together as memories became blurry. Those pieces that remained created a new structure. A framework in which I viewed the farm. It didn’t take long for it to become a different place.

Now, 20 years later, home beckoned. The fragments have begun to dance to a new tune and the shape they take will not be the same as the ones before. Perhaps it is the changing of the season, and like all cycles before, seeds must be planted for something new to arise.
A return home."
