Jonathan Nash

Jonathan Nash is a Bloomington based tattoo artist at Time & Tide Tattoo. Jonathan’s love for tattooing and tattoo art emerged from a young age watching his mother’s excitement and passion for body art. While not always actively pursuing tattooing, he was honing another craft based on precision, culture, passion, and art. That craft was sushi. Jonathan worked as a sushi chef for a handful of years at James Beard award winning restaurant Uchi in Dallas, Texas.

At the beginning of the COVID pandemic Jonathan moved back home to Terre Haute, IN and started his journey to becoming a tattoo artist. Drawing every day for countless hours during the lockdowns he soon developed a portfolio and landed an apprenticeship.

After tattooing for a year and a half Jonathan joined the Time & Tide crew and has worked to develop his skills and knowledge of tattooing. Tattooing opened the door to many other art styles and influences that are seen in his artwork and tattoos. He has a deep love for Art Nouveau, Naturalist Art, Pin Up Art and illustration.

Jonathan’s goal for his tattoos is to remain rooted in traditional tattooing but pulling inspiration from other art styles through subject matter, palette, and composition. His goal has always been to create lasting images that are legible and compliment the body.

Jonathan’s favorite tattoo styles are traditional styles both American and Japanese, Neo-traditional, and illustrative.

When not tattooing Jonathan tries to keep busy by painting tattoo art and painting fine artworks. You can also find Jonathan spending time with his wife and their young boy, watching and studying birds and nature, or cycling.
