This signed watercolor by Indiana artist Charles E. Barnes (1915-2005) is a dramatic landscape with a sheer rocky cliff and stark, leafless trees and evergreens and a gray sky as a backdrop. The deep browns are contrasted with highlights of sun on the hillside. This painting is an excellent example of a very distinct style popular in the 1950's/60's arts scene. The painting is 7x10.5", tastefully matted in an eggshell colored matte to 11.25x14.5". It comes wrapped in a protective sleeve and with an artist's bio.
