This signed watercolor by Indiana artist Charles E. Barnes (1915-2005) was purchased from the artist in his Brown County, Indiana studio by a collector many years ago. The landscape has a stream running through it, and the painting is dominated by browns with subtle hints of blues, greens and purples. The artist's quick and sweeping brush strokes capture the movement and flow of the scene in his signature style, and is an excellent example of a very distinct style popular in the 1950's/60's arts scene. This original painting is 6x10" (without a matte) and has a foam core backing, wrapped in a protective sleeve and with an artist's bio.
